6th Grade Communication Arts
Mrs. Thomas
Room NA2
The textbook we will utilize for class is Houghton Mifflin’s Reading: Triumphs. It is in the same series that your child used in grades K-5. We will not use a workbook in class, but periodically they will have worksheets that go along with the reading selection. There will also be a spelling list sent home every Monday, with the test given on Friday. Reading Circle certificates will be awarded at the end of the year for those 6th Graders that complete 16 book reports.
All objectives for 6th Grade Communication Arts are based upon the Common Core State Standards, which have been adopted by 44 states, including Missouri. I have included a link for the Communication Arts CCSS.
