Objectives:
*Students will read a variety of short stories, exploring the mechanics of plot and learning how authors develop distinct settings through their use of details appealing to their use of details appealing to the five senses. *Students will also learn how to predict future events in a story through clues given by the author, how to visualize descriptions from stories, how authors use suspense to keep a reader's interest, and how to summarize a story's key information. *At the end of the collection, students will be given the opportunity to share their own unique perspectives by writing and presenting a short story.
